• In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
To begin with I used an image of Liam Evans mixing on the decks as my front cover image this made the magazine instantly eye-catching and it also makes the viewer know what genre of music the magazine is about .i then made my masthead very big and clear making it easy for the audience to know the name of the magazine. The contents page should including little snippets of information about events then having page numbers next to the images or the text making it easy for the viewer to find. With my front cover I have created cover lines’ telling the audience what is inside .moving onto my contents page I had columns either side then images down the middle making the image the centre of the page which will draw the eye.
• How does your media product represent particular social groups?
I have shown images of people my age. My magazine is about drum and bass in general anything new happening in the scene and my magazine has it down it also focuses on up and coming DJs making for a more interesting read. The image on the front of my magazine is a photograph of Liam Evan’s my magazine feature mixing on the decks’ have also used imagery of Liam in double page spread because this is the main feature page and Liam is intended to be the main feature of this issue.

• What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
The magazine Mixmag uses bright contrasting colours to get across their points and to make there magazine stand out and be more eye-catching this is how I based my magazine so the people I would be most interested in distributing my magazine would be them because they are pretty similar in designs and work for the same reason.
• Who would be the audience for your media product?
The audience for my magazine would be anyone who is into drum and bass if you mix mc or just like the music. The age group I am aiming for is ages 16-15 giving a large space for people to buy the magazine from.
• How did you attract/address your audience?
I used a black and white image of the magazine feature then I put slight traces of blue to fit in with the colour scheme this almost acts as a frame for the image and makes it look quite aesthetically pleasing.

• What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I used Corel paint shop pro x3 to edit the photos and make them look stylish and professional the way in which the grey and white shows through the blue is very contrasting. I used a digital camera to make the images clearer therefore ending up with a nicer magazine. I have learned that it’s not that easy to put something together using different programs because all the different files.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
My student magazine is based mainly upon the magazine campus life, a very helpful magazine for student’s. I decided to have a big eye catching masthead so people would be drawn to my magazine name, which is called Student Weekly. I then decided to have one picture that fits the whole of the front cover, just underneath the masthead I have put the date and issue of this magazine in a different colour to the rest of the text making this stand out I have also put that the magazine is free at the bottom right of the masthead making it very visible to the reader.
I added lines either side of the main image fitting them in. these lines are very student based and will make them want to buy it because they can find out things that are to do with the age group in college. They also include life after college and information about universities this appeals to those planning on going to university after college. I also advertised a competition and information about cars because a lot of college students are seventeen and thinking about buying cars. I added a line about an interview of a student this will make students who know the person want to buy it and read about them. Then I put I line about Leeds festival this will make people interested in the festival pick up the magazine.
I then added a few central lines based on the main image telling readers that there is an interview with the student Liam Evans inside also having his picture lets people know what he looks like again this makes people who know him pick up the magazine because they are interested in reading about him.
I stuck to a very basic colour scheme so that it’s not to bold. The colours that I chose were a dark blue then a light blue and I also added in some red because it is a very contrasting colour in comparison to the blue and made the important information stand out.
My contents page is structured in a way that would appeal to the targeted audience of college students, by having a big image to one side of the page and then have all the information and page numbers down one side of the page also having images with the page numbers as well making it easier for readers to find what they want to read. Down the left hand side I have put all the features of the magazine making it easy for readers to see what is in the magazine. In the bottom left corner I have added a bit that tells you that there is an interview with a different student every month. On the right side of the page I have images with captions and page number so that the reader can read about the images. I kept my contents page very simple and used the same colour scheme as the front cover design using slightly more red because there is more important information on this page also using the red made the page numbers stand out more.
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
My student magazine is very suited to students who want to do well in there studies because I have put lots of information about universities and life after college. It also has information about Leeds festival so it is aimed at the students that enjoy going as well
There are stories on what plans the student council have for the future. I think it represents everyday life for any teenager quite nicely.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
The media institution that would be most likely to distribute my student magazine would be companies who are also involved with college students and have frequent contact with them.
Who would be the audience for your media product?
The magazine is aimed towards college student aged 16 and above this magazine is specifically based on Ludlow College as well. The magazine appeals to both genders male and female making the magazine none biased. Also included in the magazine are articles about films and other things that are opinion based so this will also capture the eye of the students.
How did you attract/address your audience?
The mast head on my magazine is designed to fit with the college theme but also it is big and eye-catching so that the audience get drawn in. I made an audience questionnaire to find out what sort of things students from the college would be interested in seeing in a magazine and added them to the magazine. The way in which my cover is laid out makes it very easy for the readers to see the information and makes them want to read on about it in the magazine. Using Liam Evans a familiar face around Ludlow College as the front covers image make people want to read about his article and find out more about him.
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
My magazine was easy to create overall because I used publisher to create the layout and then I also used it to add the text and images as well this made it easier to produce because there was no need to change file types to fit everything all together.

Textual analysis of double page spread from Radar music mag
Half of the right page is taken up by the article on the band The Teenagers it also has a small image in the article related to the article the right hand side of the page has a list of bands that are similar to the band. The colour scheme of this magazine is works very well because the white shows up on the blue and the light blue and white shows up very well on the black background of the right side.
